Wallace Richard Deiwert

FRANKLIN

Former Shelby County resident, Wallace Richard Deiwert, 80, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Johnson County Memorial Hospital. Born November 6, 1938 in Shelby County, he was the son of Carl Deiwert and Scharleen (Nicholson) Deiwert.

He married Betty (Montgomery) Deiwert on August 10, 1985 and she preceded him on May 23, 2010.

Survivors include 2 sons- Richard Deiwert Jr. (Julie Hutchinson) of Seymour, Robert Reynolds of Bloomington; 3 daughters- Joy Turner of Indianapolis, Deb Atkins (Boyce Stattenfield) of Hope, Valeria Engleking (husband Mason) of Hope; 1 brother- Sam Deiwert (wife Debbie) of Delphi; 2 sisters- Julia Bense of Hope, Judy McKinney of Beech Groove; 16 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, son Jeffrey Michael Deiwert, and brother James Deiwert.

Mr. Deiwert had lived in Franklin for 1 year, after moving from Shelby County. He was a lifelong self employed farmer, and had also been a factory worker at Cummins Engine of Columbus for 21 years, retiring in 1985. He graduated from Hope High School and was a member of Flat Rock Christian Church, and Shelbyville Masonic Lodge. He was a Indiana National Guard veteran.

Wallace enjoyed farming, fishing, attending family functions and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with visitation there from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in Norristown Cemetery.
