• Bucceto’s, for hosting a Dine to Donate event in support of Dance Marathon and the teens of our community, and for the amazing hospitality they showed us, from Turning Point Domestic Violence Services.

• state Republicans who amended Senate Bill 12.

• Kassidy Humes and Emily Smith for completing the Columbus East FCCLA honor chapter book, from Mrs. Nading.

• the surgical team, the excellent group of people in recovery and the friendly group of nurses on Tower 5 who cared for me, because they did an excellent job and it was appreciated, from Jere.

• Ian Kohen for his amazing job with keeping the Nomad teen-driven arts group, because it’s a huge success for all youth in the community.

• John Griffioen and Taylor Brothers Construction for the company’s behind-the-scenes assistance and support of Columbus Sunrise Rotary’s Canstruction Project once again this year.

Onions to …

• the state representative who wants to legalize marijuana so more people can pass drug tests and get jobs, and thinks that arming teachers with guns is a good idea.

• the president and vice president for their ineffectiveness as leaders.

• Republican Senate majority for going against the governor and common sense by gutting the hate crimes bill.

• the local high school basketball coaches who aren’t on time.

• postal carriers who deliver mail to the wrong address.

• the three cars last week on State Road 7 that didn’t stop for the school bus when it had its sign out and lights on for kids to cross.

• people who don’t tip properly.

• people who neglect poor innocent animals.

• those not realizing that spending extra money on the ASAP Hub to get it done quickly would be far more valuable and beneficial than rushing ahead with State Street projects or riverfronts.

• the NRA and Indiana legislators who want guns in schools.

• those in Columbus that would like to see any action that they don’t agree with to be labeled as a hate crime.
