Fair Oaks Mall. In this competition, volunteer builders create sculptures out of canned goods. After the competition, the cans used for building and those used by the public to vote for favorites are donated to the food banks at Love Chapel, Salvation Army and the Community Center of Hope.

IU Miller M. Arch Faculty and Staff Exhibition Part 2

The Republic Building Gallery, 333 Second St. This exhibition, the second of a two-part series, will feature works by Britt Brewer, Marleen Newman, Daniel Martinez, Etien Santiago, Kelly Wilson and Rachel Wilken. Free and open to the public.

Furs, Feathers, Hats, Hides and Hair Exhibit

Bartholomew County Historical Society, 524 Third St. The Bartholomew County Historical Society presents its newest exhibit, an extensive collection of fur items, hats from its collection, hides of animals native to the area, and some unique hair art from the 1800s. Also, guests can peruse Arvin Industries products produced in Columbus, including a large collection of radios and household items. Museum hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Xenia Simons Miller gallery exhibit

Gallery 506 at the Visitors Center, 506 Fifth St. Xenia Simons Miller was a modernist patron of art and architecture.

Abstraks & Ambiguitie

Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave. Artist Cathy Williams describes herself as a mixed-media expressionist painter who weaves eccentric stories within portraiture and abstractive figurative works. 6 p.m., The Commons, 300 Washington St. First Fridays for Families is a free family entertainment series that introduces young audiences to a wide variety of performing arts in a fun, informal setting. “Dwarfs’ Tale of Snow White” is performed by Dancers Studio Inc. From enchanted animals and an evil witch to the infamous magic mirror and a troupe of rambunctious storytellers, experience this classic fairy tale as told by the seven dwarfs.
