Firefighters sent to Cummins Fuel Systems plant in regard to burn injuries

5:13 p.m. update: Columbus firefighters have transported a male in his mid-20s to Columbus Regional Hospital after he suffered superficial burns while in the Cummins Fuel Systems Plant on North National Road.

Columbus Fire Department spokesman Mike Wilson said firefighters were sent to the scene about an individual with chemical burns, but learned that the Cummins employee had used a lighter to set his clothing on fire.

Firefighters did an assessment at the scene and then transported the individual to the hospital for an evaluation, Wilson said. The individual is not suffering from life-threatening injuries at this time.

Columbus firefighters are at the scene of a disturbance at Cummins Fuel Systems on North National Road in regard to an individual who was reportedly set on fire.

The report was made at about 4:30 p.m. and Lifeline helicopter was notified.
