MALE

Matt Frost, Columbus East basketball player

Frost led the Olympians with 15 points and four rebounds in a 60-50 loss to Class 4A No. 4 Floyd Central to close the regular season.

His performance last week: “I felt like I played pretty well, but I definitely could have played better. I’m kind of upset that we lost a conference game, obviously. There’s definitely room for improvement.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just listen to some music and talk with my teammates.”

Favorite drink: “Orange Powerade”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite book: “The Bible”

Favorite class: “Engineering”

Role model: “My dad (Rob Frost)”

Best advice: “Just have fun playing the sport that you do because the day is going to come when you’re not playing it anymore. Just have as much fun as you can because it will be the most enjoyable time of your life.”

Athletics goal: “Win sectional and finish the season with a winning record.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Oregon, because it has some really pretty things to see. There are some mountains there, and there’s some beautiful scenes there.”

FEMALE

Tova Edwards, Columbus North senior gymnast

Edwards finished second on the vault, bars and floor and third on the beam on her way to a second-place all-around finish to help the Bull Dogs to the Columbus East Sectional title.

Her performance last week: “I think that was my best performance so far because I got a couple (personal records).”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just try not to think about it too much because if I think too much then I psych myself out, and I don’t do as well.”

Favorite drink: “Water”

Favorite food: “Mac and cheese”

Favorite book: “Right now, I’m almost done with the ‘I Am No. 4’ series, and I really like it.”

Favorite class: “Math or choir”

Role model: “I kind of look up to most of the gymnasts like Ragan Smith or Simone Biles because they show how hard work pays off.”

Best advice: “Just don’t give up.”

Athletics goal: “To get as many new skills that I’ve never done before as I can.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Somewhere out of the country like Italy or South America, just to see how things are.”
