Elizabethtown man accused of drug-related charges

Columbus police arrested an Elizabethtown man on several drug-related charges after receiving a report of a suspicious person in a shopping center.

Officers were sent to the 3100 block of the Columbus Shopping Center at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday and observed Daniel S. Kelsay Jr., 23, Elizabethtown, discarding items near a parked vehicle, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The officers retrieved the items and determined that it was drug paraphernalia, Harris said. Kelsay was observed leaving a nearby store a short time later where he was detained, Harris said.

When searching Kelsay’s clothing after his arrest, officers found drug paraphernalia along with marijuana, methamphetamine and heroin, Harris said. Kelsay was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin and possession of marijuana.
