In the last meet before the March championship season, several Club Olympia and Donner Swim Club swimmers competed in the Riviera Prelude to the Championships at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium.
Club Olympia’s Rachel Sabotin won five events in the Girls Open division, taking first in the 100-yard backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley and 1,650 Freestyle. Nalanie Cortez won the Girls Open 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly, and finished second in the 1,650 freestyle.
Erica Samuel won the Girls Open 200 freestyle and placed second in the 100 freestyle, third in the 1,650 freestyle and fourth in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Maggie Johnson was second in the Girls Open 500 freestyle, third in the 100 freestyle and 200 IM, fifth in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly and seventh in the 100 breaststroke. Abigail Castillo was 10th in the Girls Open 500 freestyle, 11th in the 100 backstroke, 14th in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle and 25th in the 100 freestyle.
Evan Patterson won all three of his races, taking first in the Boys Open 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle. Brady Beyer won the Boys Open 200 breaststroke and 200 IM and finished second in the 100 breaststroke, 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly and 200 freestyle.

Cole Ehara placed fourth in the Boys Open 500 freestyle, fifth in the 100 freestyle and 200 breaststroke and sixth in the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle. Pratt Badve was fifth in the Boys Open 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, sixth in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, ninth in the 100 freestyle and 10th in the 200 freestyle.
Arjun Bhadoria finished fifth in the Boys Open 100 butterfly, eighth in the 200 IM, ninth in the 100 breaststroke, 11th in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and 12th in the 100 freestyle. Ethan Myers took 11th in the Boys Open 100 backstroke and 200 IM, 12th in the 500 freestyle, 14th in the 200 freestyle, 15th in the 100 breaststroke and 17th in the 100 freestyle.
Misha Machavariani finished second in the Boys 11-12 50 freestyle. Machavariani also competed in four Boys Open events, taking third in the Boys Open 1,650 freestyle, fourth in the 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly and fifth in the 200 IM.
Aidan Castillo placed third in the Boys 11-12 100 butterfly, seventh in the 100 backstroke, 10th in the 50 butterfly, 12th in the 100 freestyle and 13th in the 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle. Jay Venugopal was 11th in the Boys 11-12 50 breaststroke and 100 backstroke, 14th in the 50 backstroke, 18th in the 100 freestyle and 20th in the 50 freestyle.
Daniella Preston finished second in the Girls 11-12 100 butterfly, fourth in the 50 butterfly, fifth in the 100 freestyle and 12th in the 50 freestyle. Preston also was seventh in the Girls Open 200 backstroke and 16th in the 200 IM.
Cassidy Furnish placed ninth in the Girls 11-12 100 breaststroke, 13th in the 100 freestyle, 15th in the 50 breaststroke and 19th in the 50 freestyle. Furnish also took 16th in the Girls Open 500 freestyle and 21st in the 200 IM.
Yashika Mehta, swimming in her first meet, finished 16th in the Girls 11-12 50 butterfly, 23rd in the 50 backstroke, 28th in the 100 freestyle and 38th in the 50 freestyle. Zoie Chandlekar placed first in the Girls 10-and-under 100 butterfly, third in the 50 butterfly, fourth in the 50 breaststroke, fifth in the 100 backstroke, ninth in the 100 freestyle and 14th in the 50 Freestyle.
Connelly Furnish finished second in the Girls 10-and-under 50 breaststroke, fourth in the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle and fifth in the 50 freestyle. Furnish also was 18th in the Girls Open 200 freestyle and 23rd in the 200 IM.
Grier Lane placed fourth in the Girls 10-and-under 100 backstroke, 11th in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, and 12th in the 50 breaststroke. Lane also took 21st in the Girls Open 200 freestyle.
Sanaa Kulkarni finished fifth in the Girls 10-and-under 100 breaststroke, 10th in the 50 butterfly, 16th in the 100 breaststroke and 17th in the 50 freestyle. Kulkarni also was 20th in the Girls Open 200 freestyle and 24th in the 200 IM.
Advika Badve placed sixth in the Girls 10-and-under 50 breaststroke, seventh in the 100 breaststroke, eighth in the 50 backstroke, ninth in the 100 backstroke, 17th in the 100 freestyle and 24th in the 50 freestyle. Lovely Panda took 12th in the Girls 10-and-under 100 backstroke, 19th in the 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly, 23rd in the 50 backstroke, 25th in the 100 freestyle and 28th in the 50 freestyle.
Jahnavi Venugopal finished 14th in the Girls 10-and-under 100 breaststroke, 21st in the 50 breaststroke, 37th in the 100 freestyle, 38th in the 50 freestyle and 41st in the 50 backstroke. Ivanka Chandelkar took 50th in the Girls 10-and-under 50 backstroke and 58th in the 50 freestyle. Arya Kichambare was 51st in the Girls 10-and-under 50 backstroke and 60th in the 50 freestyle.
Tony Machavariani placed ninth in the Boys 10-and-under 50 backstroke, 10th in the 100 freestyle, 12th in the 50 freestyle and 13th in the 100 backstroke. Machavariani also took 22nd in the Boys Open 200 freestyle.
Shreyan Kulkarni finished 11thin the Boys 10-and-under 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly, 16th in the 50 backstroke, 17th in the 100 freestyle and 19th in the 50 freestyle. Avi Banerjee was eighth in the Boys 10-and-under 100 backstroke, 17th in the 50 backstroke, 23rd in the 100 freestyle and 26th in the 50 freestyle.
For Donner, Betsy King won the Girls Open 200 IM and finished second in the 100 butterfly. Ellie Proffitt placed fifth in the 100 freestyle. Paige Sherlock took sixth in the 200 breaststroke, seventh in the 200 IM, 10th in the 100 breaststroke, 11th in the 100 backstroke and 13th in the 100 freestyle. Josie Havenaar was 10th in the 200 breaststroke and 12th in the 100 backstroke.
Jack Tregoning finished 10th in the Boys Open 200 breaststroke and 500 freestyle, 12th in the 200 freestyle, 13th in the 100 breaststroke and 16th in the 100 freestyle. Brock Smith was 12th in the 100 backstroke and 200 breaststroke and 15th in the 500 freestyle.
Ainsley Sherlock placed fourth in the Girls 11-12 100 backstroke, sixth in the 50 breaststroke, seventh in the 100 breaststroke, 1 th in the 50 backstroke and 15th in the 50 freestyle. Kara Buntin took fifth in the 100 butterfly, eighth in the 100 freestyle, 12th in the 50 breaststroke, 13th in the 50 freestyle and 18th in the 200 IM. Emma Swenson was 10th in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke and 13th in the 50 backstroke.
Issac Proffitt finished fifth in the boys 11-12 100 freestyle, seventh in the 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke and eighth in the 50 butterfly. Markus Larsen took 15th in the 200 IM.
Mridula Muthukumaran placed third in the Girls 10-and-under 100 backstroke, sixth in the 100 freestyle, ninth in the 50 butterfly and 13th in the 50 freestyle. Abby Proffitt was fourth in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly. Cora Tregoning finished fifth in the 50 breaststroke, sixth in the 100 breaststroke, 14th in the 50 backstroke and 16th in the 50 freestyle. Layla McNear took 15th in the 100 freestyle, 19th in the 500 freestyle and 20th in the 50 butterfly.
Levi Bense finished seventh in the Boys 10-and-under 50 backstroke, ninth in the 50 breaststroke, 10th in the 50 butterfly, 12th in the 100 freestyle and 14th in the 50 freestyle.
Donner competes at Avon
Donner was coming off a solid performance in the ACST Aquasprints in Avon.
Sherlock led the team with 60 points in the Girls 11-12 age group. She placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke, seventh in the 200 IM, ninth in the 200 freestyle, 10th in the 100 butterfly, 11th in the 500 freestyle and 50 breaststroke, 14th in the 50 freestyle and 15th in the 100 freestyle.
Isaac Proffitt scored 16 points in the Boys 11-12 age group. He finished ninth in the 200 freestyle, 13th in the 100 backstroke, 14th in the 50 backstroke., 21st in the 100 freestyle, 23rd in the 50 breaststroke and 25th in the 50 freestyle.
Abby Proffitt scored eight points in the Girls 10-and-under age group. She placed 13th in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, 17th in the 50 breaststroke, 21st in the 50 butterfly, 22nd in the 100 breaststroke, 29th in the 50 backstroke and 33rd in the 100 backstroke.
Brock Smith scored two points in the 13-and-over age group. He placed 15th in the 500 freestyle, 23rd in the 100 butterfly and 40th in the 50 freestyle.
Other top-25 finishers for Donner were Markus Larsen 17th in the Boys 12-year-old 500 freestyle and 22nd in the 50 butterfly, Mridula Muthukumaran 17th in the Girls 10-and-under 100 butterfly 23rd in the 50 freestyle, Hudson Eicher 21st in the Boys 11-year-old 50 freestyle and 23rd in the 50 backstroke, Conner Hoffman 22nd in the Boys 12-year-old 200 freestyle and 25th in the 50 breaststroke, Carter Howell 22nd in the boys 13-and-over 200 freestyle, Andrew Brown 24th in the Boys 12-year-old 50 butterfly and 25th in the 100 breaststroke and Nicole Brault 25th in the Girls 12-year-old 100 butterfly.
WRESTLING
Panthers take fourth
Jennings County Middle School finished fourth last wekeend in both the South Dearborn Open and Madison’s Bear Rumble.
Winning their weight classes for the Panthers at South Dearborn were Lane Kirchner (80 pounds), Sam Burkman (125) and Skyler Cohee (140). Tyler Marksberry (75), Landon Malone (85), Carson Sorrells (100), Robin Stayton (135) and Ashton Newcomb (275) all finished second; and RJ Barberis (120) and Teagan Trotter (145) each took third.
James Hatton won his weight class at Madison. Noah Lawyer and Jonah Mathews each finished second, and Levi Marsh and Isaac Gasper each took third.
Jennings (10-4) fell to Central 70-45 on Wednesday. Winning for the Panthers were Marksberry (75), Kirchner (85), Malone (85), Gasper (100), Barberis (120), Stayton (135), Cohee (140) and Trotter (145).
