Foundation scholarship deadline approaching

Applications for college scholarships awarded by the Bartholomew Consolidated School Foundation are due this month.

New Tech senior hosts benefit concert

Dylan Brooks, a senior at Columbus Signature Academy – New Tech, is hosting a benefit concert to raise donations for Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy organization.

Autism Speaks sponsors autism research and conducts awareness and outreach activities to gain support of families, government agencies and the public.

The fundraiser is from 2 to 6:30 p.m. April 7 at Mike’s Dance Barn, 2277 State Road 46 in Nashville.

GalacTech robotics team earns honors

Columbus GalacTech Team 4926 qualified ninth out of 39 robotics teams at its first competition of the 2019 season on March 23 and 24.

The team, made up of 30 Columbus students, achieved Alliance Captain status for the first time at the competition, held at Lafayette Jefferson High School in Lafayette. They captained the seventh-seed alliance and selected Pike High School and Fishers High School. GalacTech fell short in the quarter finals against the second-seed alliance.

Sydney Geckler received the Underwriter’s Laboratory Safety Star of the Day. GalacTech also won the Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers Entrepreneurship Award.
