Jets open with sweep
SEYMOUR — Hauser’s boys and girls opened their seasons Monday with tri-meet victories at Trinity Lutheran.
The Jet boys scored 63 points to 55 for the Cougars and 36 for Crothersville. The Hauser girls scored 60 points to 49 1/2 for Trinity and 43 1/2 for Crothersville.
Joe Hunter led the Jet boys with wins in the long jump (18 feet, 10 1/2 inches) and 100 meters (11.8 seconds). John Bragg won the high jump (5-8), Forest Steele took the 110 hurdles (20.9), Emils Vigantz captured the 400 (55.9) and Hauser won the 4×800 (9:39.2) and 4×100 (49.6) relays.
AJ Goecker led the Cougars with wins in the 1,600 (4:35.4) and 3,200 (10:43.5). Michael Claycamp won the shot put (38-11 1/2), Josh Rowe took the discus (107-3) and Trinity captured the 4×400 relay (3:58.6).
Ashley Chambers won the high jump (4-7) and 400 (1:09.6), Grace Isley took the long jump (14-4) and 100 (13.5) and Carly Beeker captured the 100 hurdles (19.2) and 300 hurdles (1:02.9) to lead the Jet girls. Marnie Schwartzkopf won the 800 (2:34.9) and Hauser took the 4×400 relay (5:17.9).
Sydney Jaynes led the Cougars with wins in the shot (31-7) and discus (94-2). Emma Goecker took the 3,200 (15:22.0), and Trinity captured the 4×100 relay (58.9).
BASEball
Pioneers blank Panthers
CLARKSVILLE — Providence limited Jennings County to two hits in handing the Panthers a season-opening 10-0, five-inning defeat.
Cody Wilson and Kyle Wilson had the hits for Jennings.
South Decatur falls
OSGOOD — South Decatur outhit Jac-Cen-Del 5-3, but came away with a 12-5 season-opening loss.
Zadun Sharp went 2 for 4 for the Cougars.

Trinity downs Orleans
ORLEANS — Kamzi Gross threw a five-hit shutout to lead Trinity Lutheran to a season-opening 4-0 win at Orleans.
Savannah Harweger had two hits, including a double, for the Cougars.
GIRLS Tennis
Trinity tops Austin
SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran opened its season with a 4-1 win against Austin.
Sarah Lemming won 7-6 (4), 6-7(3), (10-4) at No. 2 singles, and Regan Cain prevailed 7-5, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Cougars. Lauren Fleetwood, Cassidy Burnside triumphed 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Katelyn Mensendiek, Rebecca Brown were victorious 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Trinity’s lone loss came at No. 1 singles, where Abby Schult fell 6-1, 6-0.
