Based on a quarterly check by The Republic on the cost of nine basic items at six local grocery stores, grocery prices dropped locally by 8.5 percent over a 12-month period, giving consumers some relief as unemployment rolls increased and many families struggled to pay for basic necessities.

1994

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, Cummins Engine Co. erected a 23,000-square-foot complex for its annual shareholders meeting and a public convention and exhibition of models of diesel engines and innovative projects.

1969

Umbrellas, yellow rubber raincoats and galoshes were the order of the day as hundreds of Bartholomew County children gathered in a light rain to hunt for colorful candy eggs scattered by the WCSI radio Easter bunny at Donner Park.
