Bull Dogs win twice
WESTFIELD — Parker Maddox and Casper Clark threw back-to-back shutouts against out-of-state powerhouses Saturday, and Class 4A No. 8 Columbus North completed a three-game sweep in the Prep Baseball Report Midwest Select Classic at Grand Park.
Parker Maddox threw a two-hitter in the morning against Portage Northern, the No. 1-ranked team in Michigan. Austin Bode went 3 for 3 with three RBIs, Homare Takauchi went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, Grant Trinkle went 2 for 2 and Casper Clark went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
In the afternoon, the Bull Dogs (9-2) beat Edwardsville, the No. 8-ranked team in Illinois. Casper Clark threw a four-hitter.
Olympians blank Hawks
INDIANAPOLIS — Kaden Wise threw a two-hit shutout, and Dalton Back went 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run and four RBIs to lead Class 4A No. 5 Columbus East to a 10-0, five-inning win at Decatur Central.
Julian Greenwell went 2 for 4 with a double for the Olympians (9-1).
Jets split with Tigers
LAWRENCEBURG — Class A No. 5 Hauser won a wild first game 14-12, but Lawrenceburg took the second game 12-2 in five innings to salvage a doubleheader split.
Trey Johnson went 3 for 5, Sean Miller went 2 for 3, Kameron Lawson went 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs in the first game for the Jets, who scored 10 times in the first inning. Jackson Paradise, who threw a complete game, and Will Trotter each had two RBIs.
The Tigers scored nine runs in the first inning of the second game and limited Hauser (6-2) to four hits.
Crusaders fall twice
CANNELTON — Columbus Christian fell to Evansville Christian 7-2 and Cannelton 26-3 in five innings to finish fourth in the inaugural Southern Roads Conference Tournament.
The Crusaders (1-2) were limited to one hit in each game. Drew Robison had a double in the opener, and Sam Flint had a single against Cannelton.
Trinity wins invitational
SEYMOUR — Jennings County led 2-0 after 4½ innings, but Trinity Lutheran scored a fun in the fifth and four in the sixth and held on for a 5-4 win in the championship game of its Cougar Invitational.
Jack Marksberry went 3 for 3, Trent Shoemaker went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Jake Mau had two RBIs for the Cougars (5-4). Tyler Goecker homered and thred a four-hitter.
Josh Pettit went 2 for 4 for the Panthers (4-2).
Jennings blanked Switzerland County 10-0 in five innings in the semifinals. Jacob Vogel threw a four-hitter, and Owen Miller went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Eagles, Cougars split
GREENSBURG — South Decatur took advantage of nine Brown County errors to win the first game 16-14, and the Eagles took advantage of seven Cougar errors to take the second game 21-5.
Luke Eden went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Brogan Howard went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Zayden Sharp went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Charlie Frensmeier had two RBIs to lead South Decatur in the opener. J.T. Parry went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, Justin Partyka went 2 for 3 with two home runs and six RBIs and John Wayne Ziegler went 2 for 5 for Brown County.
In the second game, Jake Riehl went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, Parry went 2 for 6, Partyka had three RBIs, and Bryce Walker and Trey Gault each added two RBIs to lead the Eagles (5-5). Eden had two RBIs for the Cougars (2-5).

North posts shutouts
JEFFERSONVILLE — No. 12 Columbus North won all five matches in straight sets twice in rolling to 5-0 wins against New Albany and Jeffersonville at the Jeffersonville Invitational.
Against New Albany, Ashlie Wilson blanked Abigail Scott 6-0 and Eva Chevalier downed Maddie Incoin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores, and Tiffany Fu topped Adrienne Duke 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Shweta Srinivasan and Jaline Tay beat London Tyler and Noor Quershi 7-6 (5), 7-6 (1) at No. 1 doubles, and Servane Cloteaux and Ali Bergman blanked Ruby Quinn and Layne Burke 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Against Jeffersonville, Wilson blanked Alayna Lay 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Chevalier beat Emma Ellis 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Paige Bishop downed Loran Halstead 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (8-1). Srinivasan and Tay topped Lydia Kittrell and Olivia Bischof 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Cassidy May and Mariana Martinez beat Tiara Jones and Evelyn Minton 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Panthers top Trinity
SEYMOUR — Jennings County won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win at Trinity Lutheran.
Ellie Hearne beat Sarah Lemming 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Reagan Brown downed Abby Schult 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (6-0). Callie Wilder and Abigail DeCamp topped Lauren Fleetwood and Cassidy Burnside 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Courtney Lykins and Elizabeth Ertel beat Alli Stuckwisch and Katelyn Mensendiek 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
The win for the Cougars (2-4) came at No. 3 singles, where Regan Cain topped Carmen Kopitzke 6-1, 6-0.
BOYS golf
North takes fifth
NEWBURGH — Columbus North tied for fifth of 15 with 339 at Victoria National. Noblesville won with a 312.
Henry Kiel tied for third invidually with an even-par 72 to lead the Bull Dogs. Drew Smith carded an 86, Luke Schneider added an 87, Jacob Nielbalski shot 94 and Luke VanDeventer had a 99.
East finishes fourth
NORTH VERNON — Columbus East finished fourth in the Jennings County Invitational at St. Anne’s. Madison won with 323, while Whiteland, Greensburg and the Olympians all shot 330, with the Olympians having the higher fifth score.
Mark Mayhew and Kody Reynolds each shot 76 to finish fourth and fifth individually and lead the Olympians. Adrian Adams added an 83, Cole Schaefer shot 95 and Leyton Erfmeier had a 95.
Jennings’ A team finished sixth with a 335. Bryce Kirchner led the Panthers with a 77, while Adam Leach carded a 78, Brett Silvey added an 86, Weston Miller shot 94 and Joe Kelley had a 96.
The Panthers B team took 13th with a 398. Zach Bingham carded a 95 followed by Samson Miller with a 96, Chad Gasper with a 100, Conner Cook with a 107 and Kyle Corum with a 118.
Trinity Lutheran finished eighth with a 347. Jacob Keith led the Cougars with an 84, while Jacob Sabotin carded an 85, Ryland Nierman added an 87, Josiah Foster shot 91 and Mark Shoemaker had a 93.
South Decatur came in 15th with a 448. Nick Bales led the Cougars with a 91, while Evan Wullenweber added a 103, Grant Vannatta shot 116 and Garrett Bates had a 138.
Eagles take fifth
BLOOMINGTON — Parker VanNess won medalist honors with a 2-over-par 73 to lead Brown County to a fifth-place finish out of 10 teams with a 368 in Edgewood’s Mustang Invitational at Cascades. Edgewood won with a 338.
Cooper VanNess carded a 94 for the Eagles. Curtis Lookebill added a 96, Peyton Proctor shot 105 and Rex Watters had a 128.

Panthers, Orioles split
NORTH VERNON — Haley Engelking hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth to give Jennings County a 3-2 second-game win and salvage a doubleheader split with Avon.
The Orioles won the first game 6-4 in eight innings. Skylar Weber went 2 for 2, Tori Lee went 2 for 3 and Kylee Matern went 2 for 4 with a triple for the Panthers.
Matern went 3 for 4, and Lexi South went 2 for 4 with a triple in the second game for Jennings (11-1). Gabby Mahoney homered and threw an eight-hitter.
