Mary Jane Poer, 76 of Shelby County, Indiana passed away April 14, 2019 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born March 6, 1943 in Shelby County. She was the daughter of Wellbourne and Edith (James) Snepp.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Joe) Kvernum of Clarksville, Indiana, grandson, Seth Kvernum, nephew, Travis (Amber) Henderson of Trafalgar, Indiana, and niece, Heather (Andy) Sumerford of Flat Rock, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Edith Ann Henderson.
Mary Jane was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church in Shelby County, Indiana. She was formerly employed by the Shelbyville School System.
She gave private piano and voice lessons and also tutored reading and math.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Seth. She loved playing the piano and teaching children about Jesus.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. by Reverend Zack Scellato at Mount Auburn Christian Church on Saturday, April 20, 2019. Calling will be Friday, April 19 at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Calling will be from noon until time of service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Shelby, County.
