Brian Fortner and Mary Camacho will provide music for a free concert to benefit childhood cancer patients, scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Commons, 300 Washington St.
The donation-oriented event has been billed as the Be The Change Benefit Concert, according to organizers. All proceeds, from donations to food purchases, will go to the nonprofit Campaign One At a Time helping young cancer patients by "providing positive experiences and fulfilling dreams," organizers said.
Local advocates such as Laura Lanoire and Michael McCauley also will offer remarks during the afternoon that will run until 6 p.m. with a raffle, food, baked goods from Bubba’s Little Bear and more.
There will also be a petition available to sign to help pass a state anti-bullying law. This concert is dedicated to the late William C. Williamson, a Shriner who dedicated much of his life to helping children.
Campaign One At A Time’s "Spread Squad" is filming a docu-series about the beauty of spreading good across the world and will be filming the event for an episode in its planned series.
