COLUMBUS
Robert L. Burns, 76, of Columbus, passed away Thursday April 18, 2019 at 4:33 p.m. at Silver Oaks Health Campus, where he was loved by the staff.
Robert was born September 12, 1942 in Columbus, the son of Archie and Virginia Crume Burns.
Robert retired from Cummins Engine Company after 40 years of service. He was a member of the local Model A Restorers Club. He was a Ham and CB radio enthusiast and loved I.U. Basketball. He enjoyed fishing and cherished spending time with his family.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Day Jr. officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2018 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Inurnment will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include his sons, Greg (Sheila) Burns of Columbus, IN, Jeff (Misty) Burns of Nashville, IN, and Tony (Shannon) Burns of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Nikki (Matt) Parker, Casey (Jeff) Buchanan, Emma Burns, Chase Burns, Justin Burns, Conner Burns, Joshua (Brittany) Burns and Cody (Dacia) Burns; great grandchildren, Joshua Grayson Burns, Rilynn Grace Burns and Ava Mae Burns.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Archie Burns; mother, Virginia McConn; step-father, Donald McConn and his brother, James Edward Burns.
