MALE

Sean Miller, Hauser senior baseball player

Miller went 2 for 5 and hit a two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Jets a 5-3 win against Shelbyville.

His performance last week: “I felt like I had a good game, and we were able to come through and get a team win. That’s really going to boost our confidence going into the next couple of weeks going into sectional.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I like to get some (batting) tee work in, try to take some ground balls or some catching drills before the game.”

Favorite drink: “Powerade”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite book: “I like all of Tim Tebow’s books.”

Favorite class: “Calculus”

Role model: “My mom (Heather Miller)”

Best advice: “When you’re on a streak, make sure you do the little things because when you stop doing the little things, your streak goes away.”

Athletics goal: “My athletic goal was to play college baseball, and I actually accomplished that by signing (with Millikin).”

If you could travel anywhere: “Victory Field. It’s just always been a dream of mine to play in a state championship game, and this is the last year I get a chance to do that.”

FEMALE

Meghan Waggoner, Columbus North sophomore softball player

Waggoner hit a solo home run in a 5-0 win at Edinburgh and a three-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh in Friday’s 4-3 win against Terre Haute North. She also had two RBIs in Friday’s 11-2 win over Terre Haute South.

Her performance last week: “I feel pretty good about it. I was just trying to focus and ended up with a good hit.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I try to stretch my shoulders and my back because I have back problems, and I try to get a good meal the night before a game.”

Favorite drink: “Body Armor.”

Favorite food: “French fries”

Favorite book: “The Glass Castle.”

Favorite class: “Math”

Role model: “I look up to our our assistant varsity coach, Kelsey (Richardson). She played high school ball, and she was pretty good.”

Best advice: “Just play with your heart, and don’t worry about what the outcome is. Just focus.”

Athletics goal: “I want to have a high batting average and good pitching stats.”

If you could travel anywhere: “I’d probably go to Australia. I think it would be fun.”
