A Bartholomew County magistrate has announced he will seek the Bartholomew Superior Court 2 judge seat next year with the announcement that long-time Judge Kathleen “Kitty” Tighe Coriden is retiring.
One day after the municipal primary, Republican Joe Meek – who has served as Superior Court 2 magistrate since 2003 – said he intends to run for judge.
Two-term incumbent Coriden has confirmed she will not seek re-election and retire at the end of next year.
“I still love the job, but I’m getting old and have grandkids to enjoy,” said Coriden, 71. “I’ve been on the bench for 14 years. It’s time for some new blood.”
