Reese Harmon, Columbus North sophomore baseball player
Harmon threw a no-hitter Saturday to lead the Bull Dogs to a 9-0 win at Terre Haute South in the second game of a doubleheader. He also went 1 for 3 at the plate in an 8-0 win at Bloomington South.
His performance last week: “It was really fun to be a part of. But all of the credit goes to my defense because I only had one strikeout, so they made the plays that got me the no-hitter.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “You always have your little pregame rituals, but just sitting along with the guys and having fun is the main thing.”

Favorite food: “Culver’s chicken strips”

Role model: “I like Kobe Bryant and his mamba mentality.”
Best advice: “Live in the moment. Be where your feet are.”
Athletics goal: “I want to see how far baseball can take me.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Probably the World Series, wherever that would be, just to witness that.”
FEMALE
Bailey Lofton, Columbus North senior softball player
Lofton went 2 for 4 with two homers and six RBIs in Saturday’s 11-9 win at Silver Creek. She also went 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs in a 5-1 win at Greensburg, 1 for 3 with a homer in a 7-5 win at Bloomington South and 2 for 3 in a 4-1 loss at Brownstown Central.
Her performance last week: “Without my team, we wouldn’t have scored the runs that we have. It’s not just an individual game for our team at this point.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “When we have away games, we kind of sit and talk about goals we have for that game, and then at home games, it’s just real fun preparation, and then once the game starts, we set goals right before the game for each individual.”
Favorite drink: “Raspberry tea”
Favorite food: “Fettucine Alfredo”
Favorite book: “The Hate You Give”
Favorite class: “The biomedical classes”
Role model: “My parents (Brady and Suzan Lofton), my coaches and almost all of the girls on my team.”
Best advice: “We played a team bonding game, ‘Don’t Drop the Rope,’ You had to decide how to work together to a quite difficult task without dropping the rope. You can’t drop your team without playing as a team.”
Athletics goal: “We want to have a winning record, and conference was a big thing for us, and we got that.”
If you could travel anywhere: “I want to Jamaica, and I thought it was beautiful, so I’d go there again.”
