HOPE
B. Jean Trowbridge, 94, of Hope, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Homeview Health Center in Franklin.
Jean was retired from being a registered nurse for 50 years working for many local doctors, including Dr. Dudding in Hope. She was the first Director of Nursing at Four Seasons when it opened for 10 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hope, where she was very active in teaching Sunday School and being involved in Ladies Mission Group and Youth Group.
Jean supported her husband in his ministry as pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Greensburg. She spent time volunteering at American Red Cross.
Jean enjoyed gardening, sewing, and playing the piano. She loved her flowers and watching birds.
Born on April 25, 1925 in Chicago, Jean was the daughter of Vincent and Gladys Hadley Gillespie.
She married Jack Trowbridge on June 26, 1949 in Waynedale, IN, and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2009.
Survivors include children, Linda Hillen of Columbus, Ed (Nancy) Trowbridge of Columbus, Todd (Teresa) Trowbridge of Hope, Jay (Kathy) Trowbridge of Flat Rock, and Therese (Jim) David of Fortville; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert (Tonita) Gillespie of Kalamazoo, MI.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Gladys Evelyn; three sisters-in-law, Anita, Ruth, and Jeanette; three brothers-in-law, Vic, Sam, and Roscoe; son-in-law, Tony Hillen; nephew, Dee; and a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hope with Tim Dillingham officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Hawcreek Cemetery.
