Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hope man after being sent to a car crash at 600 N. Marr Road.
The accident was reported at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday, deputies said.
Investigators said a westbound Honda sedan left the roadway and struck two unoccupied vehicles, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado truck and a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz passenger car.
The Honda then struck and destroyed a large decorative mailbox and continued west before coming to rest near a tree, deputies said. Witnesses indicated that the vehicle had been weaving, disregarding other traffic and speeding prior to the collision.
The driver, identified as Chanceton M. Daniels, 26, 8245 N. County Road 900E, Hope, was treated and released at Columbus Regional Hospital before being taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and driving while suspended with a prior conviction.
Daniels has been released from the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
