HOPE – Some families residing near the Hope Town Square who lost their water service for several hours Tuesday are now under a boil advisory through at least Thursday.
The advisory was issued for seven homes in the 100 block of Mill Street, four residences in the 500 block of Race Street, two locations in the 200 block of Washington Street, and one building along Main Street, according to notifications sent out by Hope Utilities.
The boil advisory will be lifted Thursday only if pending tests on the water show no health risk, the notification stated.
The disruption, as well as the necessity to boil water three to five minutes before consumption, is due to two separate incidents, Hope Utilities superintendent David Clouse said.
For those on the east side of Main Street, the boil advisory was the result of an unexpected water main leak discovered under Washington Street, Clouse said. Disruptions on the west side were expected as a water main was relocated for the downtown storm sewer project, he said.
