Bobbie Elaine Callahan, 87, of Columbus, formerly of North Vernon, passed away at Willow Crossing at 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2019.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Associate Pastor Billie Goodner will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home and continue until the time of the service on Friday.
Born April 6, 1932, in Jamestown, TN, Bobbie was the daughter of Robert and Nannie Upchurch. She married Jack Callahan on September 2, 1972. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2005.
She enjoyed watching the horse races and spending time with family and friends. She was always dressed meticulously and took such pride in her appearance. She also enjoyed decorating her apartment.
Bobbie is survived by a daughter, Betty (Al) Hill, of Columbus; stepson, Shawn (Kenna) Callahan of Corydon; two sisters, Miami (Bob) Gilliate of Venice, FL and Jean Rains of Muncie; six grandchildren, Todd (Mary) Hill of South Bend, Vanessa Callies of Columbus, Jackson Lee of Corydon, Crystal (Brian) Street of Crothersville, Chad (Denise) Walker, and Shelly (Auggie) Nash of Jasper; nine great-grandchildren; and also her special friends, Chris, Eva, Peggy, Donna, Ollie, Jane and Dorothy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Callahan; daughter, Nancy Walker; brothers, Shirley, Shelby, Casper, Shelton and Roosevelt Upchurch; sisters, Thelma Grueschow, Carole Russell, Neva Delk, Audrey Groves and an infant brother.
