With only eight total swimmers, Club Olympia finished 20th out of about 75 teams at last weekend’s Indiana Age Group State Championships IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium.
Brady Beyer led Club Olympia with 111 points, finishing second in a close race for high point in the Boys 13-14 age group. Beyer won the 200-meter individual medley, 400 IM, as well, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. He also placed third in the 200 butterfly and fourth in the 800 freestyle.
Nalanie Cortez scored 102 points, finishing second for high point for the Girls 13-14 age group. Cortez won the 200 butterfly and the 1,500 freestyle and was second in the 200 freestyle, third in the 400 freestyle, fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 100 freestyle.
Misha Machavariani scored and swam his personal best-times in all six of his events, scoring 65 points. He placed third in the 11-12 200 breaststroke, fifth in the 200 butterfly and sixth in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. He also took 12th in the 400 freestyle and 13th in the 200 freestyle.

Joshua Pendleton scored five points in his first Age Group State Championships, finishing 12th in the 10-and-under Boys 100 butterfly. He also placed 25th in the 50 freestyle, dropping more than 2 ½ seconds in both events.
Connelly Furnish scored four points, finishing 14th in the 10U Girls 50 breaststroke,16th in the 100 breaststroke and 17th in the 200 freestyle. Furnish swam the breaststroke leg on the 10U Girls 200 medley relay, with Advika Badve swimming backstroke, Zoie Chandelkar butterfly and Grier Lane freestyle.
Future North swimmer competes
Daniel Utterback, an incoming freshman at Columbus North, competed for Franklin Regional Swim Team in both the the Indiana Senior State Championships in his 13th and final Age Group State Championships.
Utterback swam four relays for FRST at Senior State. The team finished 13th in the 400 freestyle relay, 14th in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays and 17th in the 400 medley relay.
At Age Group State, Utterback placed fourth in the 50 freestyle in 25.69 seconds and seventh in the 100 freestyle in 57.12, achieving a Speedo Sectional time standard in the 50 freestyle. He also finished 13th in the 100 backstroke, 16th in the 100 butterfly and 23rd in the 200 freestyle.

Threesomes win scrambles
Duane Gater, Darrell Moffatt and Eric Hahn won last week’s Tuesday Par 3 scramble with a 4-under-par 23.
A week earlier, Fred Hales, Steve Lewis and Charles Kirlin won the scramble with a 3-under 24.
