Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a Hope man after a vehicle pursuit and property-damage accident.
Deputy Kevin Abner was sent to the 20000 block of East State Road 46 about a disturbance at 1:12 p.m. Wednesday, deputies said.
Paul Foley, 33, Hope, was refusing to leave a local business and threatening an employee, deputies said. Abner observed Foley arguing with a female in the parking lot, and as Foley entered his vehicle, Abner pulled his patrol car in front of Foley’s car so he could speak with him, deputies said.
Foley accelerated and drove past Abner, and when Abner attempted to stop him, a pursuit began, deputies said. Foley abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot after hitting a box truck trailer parked in a yard on South West Street, pushing that trailer into another vehicle south of it, deputies said.
Foley was found in a field a short time later and arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving, deputies said. He has since been released from the Bartholomew County Jail.
