COLUMBUS

Deana Dee Paswater, age 58 of Columbus, passed on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born September 26, 1960, she was the daughter of Wendel Lee and Colleen May (Guthrie) Sweeney. On September 28, 1992 in Gatlinburg, TN, she married Kermit Neil Paswater.

Deana was a 1978 graduate of Columbus East High School and was a member of the Mount Olive United Methodist Church. She worked for Duke Energy for 11 years as a meter reader. Deana also worked at Ceraland Park’s Putt Putt, The Landing and took great pride in planting flowers there.

Kermit and Deana had been going to Wauchula, Florida for 12 years and loved spending time at the beach. When in Florida, she worked as a bartender at the Wauchula Moose. She enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson, playing Bingo and going to the casino. Deana was always smiling and never knew a stranger. Deana was also a member of American Legion Post #24, Wauchula Moose, 25 year member of A.B.A.T.E. and a lifetime member of H.O.G.

Survivors include her husband Kermit of Columbus; parents Wendel and Colleen of Columbus; sons, Logan (Kristi) Spachtholz and Connor Spachtholz; siblings, Deb (Charlie) Cooper, Dennis Sweeney and Robin Sweeney all of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Russell (Cindy) Paswater of North Vernon and Deryl (Nina) Paswater of Columbus. Deana also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends from both Columbus and Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ceraland Park at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Friends are invited to bring a covered dish to the pitch in meal following and to spend time with Kermit and family following the service. Burial will follow at a future date at the Daughtery Cemetery.
