COLUMBUS
Sheila L. Imel, 71, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:53 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Imel was born November 8, 1947, in New Albany, Indiana, the daughter of Huber and Amy Molloy Jackson. She was the widow of John W. Imel, who preceded her in death September 28, 2015.
A homemaker, Mrs. Imel was a member of the Indiana Bass Association for the Deaf (IBAD)and she enjoyed attending her husband’s bowling outings through the years.
Mrs. Imel is survived by her sons, Ron (Susan) Johnson of Columbus, Robert Johnson of Columbus and Derek (Leslie) Johnson of Columbus; four grandchildren, Cameron, Isaiah, Bethany and Wai-Ling Johnson; her brothers, Brian (Marcia) Jackson of Martinsville, Indiana and Dennis (Brenda) Jackson of Brownsburg, Indiana; and two nieces, Dayna and Breanna.
Mrs. Imel was preceded in death by her parents, Huber and Amy Jackson and her husband, John W. Imel.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Reverend Alan Rork officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Imel will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Garden of Devotion at Garland Brook Cemetery.
