Reverend William Orville Turner Assistant Pastor of Sixth Street Baptist Church age 89, of Elizabethtown passed from this life on Saturday August 24th.
Orville retired from Vernco of Columbus after 27 years. He attended church at the Sixth Street Baptist Church where he was the assistant pastor, Orville also pastored several other churches throughout the years.
Orville was born on March 10th 1930, to Hiram and Rebecca (May) Turner in Evarts, Kentucky.
Orville Married Alice Turner and they were married for 58 years. Alice passed from this life in August of 2005. He then married Marjorie Burton on December 5th 2008.
Orville is survived by his wife Marjorie Turner, son Dale Turner, daughters: Brenda (Lewis) Turner and Julie (Michael) Brown, several grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by step children Sharon Burton, Vicki (Charles) Plumm, Donnie (Denise) Burton, Laura (Clifford Plumm) Wilson,grandson’s raised by Orville and Alice are Joey and Jason Welsh and Josh Welsh.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Rebecca Turner, his first wife Alice Turner, daughters: Linda Powell and Christina Lucas, sons James Turner, Danny and Donnie Pedigo Turner; grandson, Brian Keith Welsh; stepson, Danny Burton and a brother and sister.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home at 3855 25th Street, Columbus, Indiana. Viewing will be Wednesday evening August 28th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at the funeral home, 10:00 a.m. on Thursday August 29th with Rev. Roger Lee and Rev. Don Hacker officiating.
Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service on Thursday. Interment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana following the service.
