Students Fund of Hope to raise funds during ‘First Fridays Cruise-In’

HOPE — One year after raising nearly $7,000 in a single day selling root beer floats, the Students Fund of Hope has an even more ambitious upcoming fundraiser.

The organization is joining forces with car enthusiasts and local musicians during the upcoming “First Fridays Cruise-In” on Sept. 6 in the Hope Town Square.

At 5 p.m., several unique cars and trucks will be on display while representatives of the organization serve food inside the shelter house.

Starting at 6 p.m., the six-member “Good Times Band” will perform a two-hour concert at the bandstand. Members of the Hope-based band are Larry McCrory, Jerry McCrory, Gary Campbell, Arnold Ellison, Larry Martin and Brian Bower.

At the same time the band is playing, organizers will be entertaining the kids with a variety of children’s activities.

One of the highlights of the evening will be an 8:30 p.m. presentation of the 2016 Disney Pixar film “Finding Dory.”
