TerrorZ, Columbus firefighters raise more than $2,000 for Cheer Fund

The TerrorZ roller derby team and Columbus firefighters divided up the win at Sunday’s roller derby challenge to benefit the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund.

More than $2,000 was raised at the event, which featured firefighters taking on the sport of roller derby against the pros.

To even out the competition at Columbus Skateland, the audience was allowed to vote for their favorite team at a $1 a vote, which gave the firefighters the win at 266 to 193. However, actual points on the skating floor were 137 for the TerrorZ and 70 for the firefighters.

All proceeds from the event will be used to provide more than 1,400 children in need with a Christmas this December in Columbus.
