COLUMBUS
Russell Andrew Hurt Jr., 66, of Columbus, died at 9:59 a.m. September 24, 2019, at his home.
Russell was born November 11, 1952, in Lebanon, Kentucky, the son of Russell Andrew and Violet Marie Miller Hurt Sr. He married Betty Jean Wall on March 23, 2003.
Russell enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved fishing; he also took great joy from shopping. As a hobby Russell enjoyed attending festivals. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Russell will be missed by all who knew him.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. September 27, 2019, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Boston officiating. Calling will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Methodist Cemetery, Ogleville, IN. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project through the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother, Violet Hurt of Columbus; wife; son, Jeramy (Brittany) Goodnight of Columbus, daughter, Wendy ( Darren) Rutan of Columbus; sister, Wanda Decker of Columbus; grandchildren, Grant Goodnight and Maddi Rutan; several nieces and nephews including Tom Couch, Jackie Midkiff and Jacob Couch.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
