Kenneth Weslie ‘Ken’ Lucas, age 76, passed away Thursday morning, October 3, 2019 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Nashville.

Ken was born October 14, 1942 in Brown County, to his parents, the late James and Dora (Mathis) Lucas. He retired in 1984 as a truck driver, working through the years for Schafer Trucking, Ready Mix and Empire Wood. Ken also is a retired Evangelist Minister having preached in Indiana, Missouri and Florida for more than 42 years.

He was a 50 year member of the Green Valley Apostolic Church in Nashville, attended the The Pentecostals Church in Gnaw Bone and was a volunteer for Mother’s Cupboard in Nashville. Ken enjoyed evangelizing, going to church and singing.

Ken also enjoyed the outdoors by hunting, fishing and camping. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor & always helping others and visiting the homebound.

Ken is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Trouphina ‘Sue’ (Hardin) Lucas, whom he married on August 31, 1962 at the Green Valley Apostolic Church in Nashville. He is also survived by his children, Sheila Like and Gary (Lori) Lucas, both of Brown County; siblings, Dolly (Keith) Matlock and Betty (Paul) Hardin, both of Brown County; grandchildren, Natalie (Mark) Anderson, Larrissa (Matt) Bristow, Liberty (Joey Elkins) Like & Jordan (Kirsten McDaniel) Lucas; and great grandchildren, Griffin & Gabriel Bryant, Nathan & Leigha Anderson and another great grandson to be born in November.

Ken was preceded in death by siblings, Edward Lucas, Norma Petro, Nellie Petro, Hazel ‘Pat’ Rice, Linda Bingham and Molly Woods.

Pastor Raymond Dupree will conduct a funeral service on Monday at 3 p.m. at The Pentecostals Church, 60 Mt. Liberty Road in Gnaw Bone. Friends and family may visit from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Bingham Reeves Cemetery in Brown County. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
