Around Town – November 2

Orchids to …

• the lady, unknown to me, who insisted on paying for my pastry at Donut Central — and her entire office on her birthday — because her kind gesture exceeded the sweetness of my pastry.

• President Obama for his great persuasive skills in convincing Congress to act on the foreclosure crisis and lead us out of the downward spiral to get America back on its feet.

• Amazing Joe’s Grill for holding onto my jacket that I inadvertently left there six weeks ago.

• Craig and Jenny Lowry, from a disabled person.

• Dr. Kavelman, for his knowledge and sincere and caring service thorough the years, from the Newsoms.

• Bob Mote and Bill Seegers for helping me winterize my camper, from Ernest Mote.

• President Trump for the fabulous economy that is growing my 401K.

Onions to …

• the U.S representative who voted on the impeachment inquiry even though he has a clear and obvious conflict of interest.

• the parents of high schoolers who double park in the tennis lot, causing accidents almost every day.

• the national Democratic Party for fomenting a civil war instead of doing the people’s work on health care, trade, immigration, spending and more.

• those that don’t realize that Mother Nature likes to occasionally play a trick on Halloween and just about any other day for that matter.

• those that don’t realize city officials only suggest safe times to trick-or-treating but that residents are free to do so at any other time, date or place they wish.

• those that don’t realize that most people will go by the calendar date of Halloween and not what city officials might decide at the last minute.

• those that don’t realize that the calendar date of Halloween was determined by Nov. 1 called All Hallows’ Day.

• city officials for not changing trick-or-treat hours to Friday night when the weather was safer for young children.

• those that don’t realize that when it rains on Halloween that just means more yummy candy for me.

• those that think 350 citizens makes up the “community” that supports or “loves” the old Crump Theatre that should be torn down.

• the insensitive person who suggested that bicycle lights would keep an intoxicated driver from running a stop sign at 40 mph.

• Republicans who are saying that Democrats are using Soviet-style procedures and techniques, when they can be said to have done the same.

• the community center that is not providing neighborhood Thanksgiving dinner this year.
