Marketplace: Louisville & Indiana Railroad operator receives corporate award

Anacostia Rail Holdings, an operator of six freight railroads across the U.S., has been honored with the Corporate Distinguished Service Award of the National Defense Transportation Association. The award recognizes NDTA corporate members who have provided outstanding support for the association’s goals and programs, including exhibitions, conferences and industry workshops.

Anacostia Rail Holdings’ subsidiary Louisville & Indiana Railroad, provides rail service to Camp Atterbury in south-central Indiana via a new state-of-the-art rail facility at nearby Edinburgh. Operated by the Indiana National Guard, Camp Atterbury is a 34,000-acre facility capable of offering training for up to two full brigades.

Louisville & Indiana inaugurated service to Camp Atterbury in 2017 with a National Guard training mission that simulated combat operations and involved approximately 309 rail cars, 1,207 pieces of equipment and 6,000 soldiers.
