North seniors host 5K on Turkey Day
Columbus North High School seniors Kennedy Kerber and Olivia Morlok are organizing the 6th annual 5K on Turkey Day, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Each year, one or two members of the Columbus North girls cross country team organize the annual event as part of their senior project.
This year’s will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, at the National Guard Armory, 2160 Arnold St. Packet pick-up and registration will be available on site from 7 to 8 a.m.
The cost to participate is $30 with a three-can donation and includes a T-shirt. All proceeds directly benefit Love Chapel, a church-affiliated organization that provides food pantry, housing aid, rent and pharmaceutical assistance to struggling families in our community.
Kerber and Morlok said their goal is to raise $26,000, have 600 participants and collect 1,800 canned goods to help Love Chapel continue its charitable works.
