High wind advisory in effect

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with southwest winds at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Central, south central, southeast, southwest and west central Indiana are expected to be affected by the high winds.

Shannan Hinton, Bartholomew County Emergency Management director, said the gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs may be blown down. Power outages are possible.

Winds are expected to be strongest between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. today, according to the weather service.

Motorists are asked to use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle or a semi.
