Columbus Township firefighters, assisted by a number of area volunteer fire departments and the Columbus Fire Department, worked at the scene of a machine shop/barn fire on Columbus’ west side this afternoon.
The fire was reported at about 1:30 p.m. behind a home on the north side of State Road 46, along a line of homes leading up to ABC Stewart School.
Several departments brought water to the scene after one of the township fire engine’s pumps failed.
Heavy smoke was visible from the scene.
