James Acton has been named the incoming president of the Ball State University Alumni Association. He will also serve as the Ball State University Foundation’s vice president of alumni engagement.
A lifelong Hoosier, Acton was born in Seymour and attended high school in Columbus.
He began working in alumni relations after college, with Phi Kappa Psi fraternity in Indianapolis, followed by 12 years at Valparaiso University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Before accepting his position at Ball State, he served eight years at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, most recently as associate vice president of alumni and giving programs.
