Olympians shock Lions
LOOGOOTEE — Columbus East jumped out to an 11-4 lead after one quarter Saturday and never looked back en route to a 51-39 win at Class A No. 1 and previously-unbeaten Loogootee.
Koryn Greiwe led the Olympians (7-2) 20 points. Saige Stahl added nine points and 10 rebounds, and Gabby Dean recorded eight points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks to come up just short of a second consecutive triple-double.

Leah Bachmann also grabbed 10 rebounds for East, which finished with a 42-28 advantage on the boards.
"They’re a tough-nosed team, and they came after us real aggressive," East coach Danny Brown said. "I thought we did a real good job of dominating the boards today, especially on the defensive end."
Brown County wins
GREENCASTLE — Brown County was tied with South Putnam at halftime Saturday before taking control for a 62-49 Western Indiana Conference win.
Allison Stogsdill led the Eagles (6-1, 2-0) with 17 points. Anna Fleetwood and Gracie Matlock each added 12.
Trojans top Panthers
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County led 13-10 after one quarter Saturday, but East Central rallied for a 54-37 victory.
Lily Ernstes led the Panthers (2-5) with 13 points.
Twisters edge Cougars
GREENSBURG — South Decatur rallied from a 21-13 halftime deficit to take a 26-25 lead after three quarters Saturday, but couldn’t hang on in a 39-37 loss to Oldenburg Academy.
Lana Bell led the Cougars (1-8) with 12 points. Brook Somers added 11.
BOYS BASKETBALL
North routs Artesians
MARTINSVILLE — Columbus North jumped out to a 22-6 lead after one quarter and went on to roll to a 77-40 victory at Martinsville.
Nick Schiavello led the Bull Dogs (4-0) with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Blake Barker scored 16 points, and Cooper Horn added 11.
Reese Harmon had seven assists for North, which had 20 assists on its 33 baskets.
"We shared the ball," North coach Paul Ferguson said. "We had a great start. We came out with a lot of energy and I thought we just took a step forward defensively tonight."
Crusaders take fourth
CANNELTON — Columbus Christian fell to Evansville Christian 56-46 in Saturday’s third-place game to finish fourth in the Southern Roads Conference Tournament.
Gabe Ridder led the Crusaders (3-8) with 14 points. C.J. Reed scored 11, and Garrett Spurgeon added 10.
On Friday, Columbus Christian fell to host Cannelton 61-50 and beat Medora 80-54 in pool play. Reed led the Crusaders with 19 against Cannelton, while Ridder added 13 and Josh Jones had 10. Jacob Conrad scored 21 against Medora, while Ridder scored 16 and Reed added 12.
Panthers down Lions
SELLERSBURG — Jennings County was tied with Rock Creek Academy at halftime before pulling away in the second half for a 62-54 victory.
Jacob Vogel led the Panthers (2-1) with 16 points, while Trey Wilson and Carson McNulty each added 14. Keegan Manowitz had eight assists and five steals.
Jennings was coming off a 64-60 Hoosier Hills Conference loss to Madison on Friday. Aaron Martin led the Panthers with 19 points.
Brown County prevails
GREENCASTLE — Brown County trailed 9-3 after one quarter Saturday before rallying for a 46-42 WIC win at South Putnam.
Caleb Yager led the Eagles (2-2, 1-0) with 12 points. Carter Kelly added 10.
Lancers get first win
WALDRON — Waldron led 45-44 lead with about three minutes remaining, but Edinburgh closed with an 8-1 run to post its first win of the season, 52-47 Mid-Hoosier Conference decision.
Caleb Dewey led the Lancers (1-3, 1-0) with 21 points. Noah Detling added 12.
WRESTLING
East wins Jeff Duals
JEFFERSONVILLE — No. 14 Columbus East swept its five matches on Saturday to win the Jeffersonville Duals, beating New Albany 81-0, Charlestown 49-24, South Dearborn 73-6, Jennings County 63-6 and Jeffersonville 45-24.
Liam Krueger (106 pounds), Noah Lykins (113), James Thompson (138), Jacob Shaver (145) and Noah White (182) all went 5-0 for the Olympians. Sam Morrill went 3-0, and Eli Pollitt went 2-0 at 160. James Sawyer went 2-0, and Jordan Sutton went 1-0 at 195.
East’s Reece Fisher (132), Tyler Williams (152), Jaden Durnil (170), Shawn Tyler (220) and Ashton Hartwell (285) all went 4-1. Bo Wagner (120) went 3-2.
Jennings competed on Friday and beat New Albany 57-17 and lost to South Dearborn on the fourth criteria after the teams had tied at 40-40. On Saturday, the Panthers beat Cincinnati Oak Hills 54-19, lost to Jeffersonville 47-21, beat Charlestown 54-27, lost to East and beat Madison 77-6 to finish 4-3.
Cameron Woodard (182) went 6-1, and Jenn Ramirez (106), Teagan Johnson (126) and Joey Moran (138) all went 5-2 for Jennings. Logan Askew (220) went 4-2, and Mike Pemberton (132), Teagan Trotter (160), Crayton Morrison (195) and Blake Mitchell (285) all went 4-3.
Bull Dogs go 0-5
BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North opened the season with five losses in the Bloomington South Invitational, falling to Lawrence North 42-39, Bloomington South 45-28, Martinsville 49-21, Bloomington North 36-30 and Center Grove 71-3.
Nick Holt (182) and Adam Behling (220) each went 4-1 for the Bull Dogs. Keandre Watson (138) went 2-0, and Carlos Rodriguez (145) and Jared Slocum (152) each went 3-2.
SWIMMING
Trojans sweep Frogs
The Columbus North girls won seven events to Center Grove’s five Saturday, but the Trojans claimed a 104-82 victory.
Olivia Morlok won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 2.36 seconds) and 500 freestyle (5:26.29), and Betsy King took the 50 freestyle (24.97) and 100 freestyle (54.85) to lead the Bull Frogs. Erica Samuel captured the 100 breaststroke (1:10.62), and North won the 200 freestyle (1:44.40) and 400 freestyle (3:48.53) relays.
Center Grove won the boys meet 134-52. The Bull Frogs’ Christopher Lee won the 50 freestyle (22.35) and 100 backstroke (54.28).
