With most college exams for the fall semester happening over the past week, it was a very light slate on the college scene for local athletes.
Here is a quick look at some of the highlights from last week:
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Patberg still rolling
Indiana University guard Ali Patberg finished with 18 points, four rebounds and five assists in a 93-56 win over Youngstown State on Sunday.
Patberg, a redshirt junior from Columbus North, is averaging 12.5 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game this season for the Hoosiers, who are 10-1.
Williams wins another
Marian forward Elle Williams, a senior from North, finished with six points and 12 rebounds in a 73-66 win against Indiana Tech on Friday.
The Knights are 12-2.
Huffman starts in loss
Cedarville guard Ashlyn Huffman, a junior from North, finished with six points, three rebounds and an assist in a 74-51 loss to Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets are 8-2.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Gross gets double-double
Olivet Nazarene center Alex Gross recorded 18 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in a 98-75 win over Saint Ambrose.
Gross, a sophomore from Hauser, is averaging 15.5 points per game and 10.6 rebounds this season.
The Tigers are 13-1 overall and 7-1 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
King contributes in win
Army orward Alex King, a junior from North, had six points, six rebounds and three assists in an 89-76 victory over Buffalo Saturday.
Army is 5-5.
Williams loses first game
Hanover forward Kevin Williams, a senior from Columbus East, finished with 15 points and eight rebounds in a 75-69 loss to Defiance on Saturday.
The Panthers are 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Chitty contributes in win
Bellarmine guard Parker Chitty, a senior from East, had five points and five rebounds in a 95-52 win over Mount St. Joseph on Sunday.
The Knights are 7-0.
WRESTLING
Rooks brothers first, fourth
Indiana University’s Graham Rooks, a sophomore from East, won the University of Northern Illinois Invitational in the 149-pound weight class on Saturday.
Rooks’ brother Cayden, a freshman from East, finished fourth at 133.
