Crusaders clip Cardinals

WASHINGTON — Columbus Christian led only 32-29 at halftime Saturday, but outscored Washington Catholic 23-7 in the third quarter and pulled away for a 66-53 road victory.

Madison Henderson scored 20 points to lead the Crusaders (10-3). Ellie Ridder scored 12, and Kayla Jones added 11.

Crusaders split pair

Columbus Christian split a pair of games in Southwest Indiana, falling at Pleasant View Christian 47-34 and beating Washington Catholic 43-24.

Gabe Ridder led the Crusaders with 13 points against Pleasant View. Jacob Conrad had 18 for Columbus Christian (4-11) against Washington Catholic.

Cougars move to 7-0

Class 2A No. 10 South Decatur needed overtime on back-to-back nights, but remained unbeaten with a 94-91 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Morristown on Friday and a 76-75 victory at South Ripley on Saturday.

With high-scoring guards Hunter Johnson and Lane Lauderbaugh being held to a combined 13 points, Tyler Sporleder came through with a career-high 32 points to become the fourth Cougar to score at least 30 in a game this year. Gage Walters added 19 for South Decatur (7-0).

Lauderbaugh led the Cougars with 33 points on Friday. Walters added 25, and Johnson had 14.

Owls rally past Panthers

SEYMOUR — Jennings County led 32-22 heading to the fourth quarter, but Seymour rallied for a 44-41 Hoosier Hills Conference win.

Carson McNulty led the Panthers with 18 points (3-3, 0-2). Keegan Manowitz added 10.

Edinburgh falls

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh was within 14-12 after one quarter, but unbeaten Monrovia pulled away for a 70-43 victory.

Caleb Dewey led the Lancers (2-5) with 14 points. Isaac Roberts added 12.

Clovers top Eagles

CLOVERDALE — Brown County outscored Cloverdale in the second half Friday, but couldn’t overcome a 33-22 halftime deficit in a 58-48 Western Indiana Conference loss.

Travis Ely and Caleb Yager each scored 10 points to lead the Eagles (2-4, 0-2). Aaron McCann added nine.

SWIMMING

North teams take fourth

FISHERS — Columbus North’s boys and girls went up against some of the state’s top teams and finished fourth in the Forum CU Holiday Splash at Hamilton Southeastern. The host Royals won both meets.

The Bull Frogs’ Erica Samuel won the girls 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 8.79 seconds. Betsy King finished second in the 50 freestyle (24.54) and third in the 100 freestyle (54.17), and Olivia Morlok was fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:15.93).

Christopher Lee finished third in the 100 backstroke (54.08) and teamed with Tristen Cook, David Fry and Daniel Utterback to take third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.67) to lead the North boys. Utterback was fifth in the 100 freestyle (50.01).

Panthers finish third

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County finished third out of 17 teams in the Jeffersonville Classic. The host Red Devils won the team title, and Louisville Moore finished second.

Cameron Woodard finished second at 182 pounds to lead the Panthers. Jenn Ramirez (106), Teagan Johnson (126), Dathan Malone (145) and Sam Bennett (170) all took fifth. Evan Sochaki (113) and Crayton Morrison (195) were sixth, Blake Vaught (152) and Blake Mitchell (285) finished seventh and Carson Sorrells (120) and Teagan Trotter (160) took eighth.

Bull Dogs go 1-4

ST. LEON — Columbus North fell to Lawrenceburg 61-18, beat Batesville 48-36 and lost to Warren Central B 50-27, East Central 76-6 and Cambridge City Lincoln 48-36.

Keandre Watson went 4-0 at 138 and 1-0 at 145 with five first-minute pins for the Bull Dogs. Nick Holt (182) went 4-1, and Zeppelin Mouser (106) went 3-2.
