NASHVILLE — The Original Big Woods on Molly’s Lane in Nashville has closed so it can unveil a new concept, menu and decor in March. The restaurant will be called The Original, a Big Woods Restaurant, in a nod to its lineage as the first of the Big Woods Restaurants.
The restaurant’s new menu will feature elevated takes on regional comfort foods. It will still be a 21-and-older venue and will feature premium craft beverages from sister brands Quaff ON! Brewing Co. and Hard Truth Distilling Co. — beverages which, in many cases, will also relate more closely to the accompanying food.
The restaurant’s most recent menu featured soups and salads, burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, and more.
“When quality food and superior drinks come together in the right way, the experience can be really profound. We see that in our existing restaurants, and now we’re taking it up a level with this new concept,” said co-founder Ed Ryan. “And, with 10 years of the Big Woods spirit and experience instilled in the walls of the timber-frame restaurant on Molly’s Lane, we believe it’s the ideal location to develop this concept.”
“Big Woods has grown so much in the last decade,” said co-founder Jeff McCabe, “And, we realized it was time to bring The Original Big Woods back to what made it special when we first opened in 2009. Back then, it was the only thing like it here.”
Today, Big Woods Restaurants operates six restaurants in central Indiana — three in Nashville, and one each in Franklin, Speedway and Bloomington — with a seventh slated to open next year in Noblesville at Hazel Dell and 146th. A second Big Woods Pizza will open in Westfield at the southwest corner of State Road 31 and State Road 32 in late 2020.
With a new menu and a refreshed look, owners say The Original will be the only one of its kind — not only in Nashville, but within the entire Big Woods family.
