William K. Daniel (Bill) passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2019, in Siesta Key, Florida. He was born on January 8, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Fred E. and Martha Kenyon Daniel and was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lorel Ann Daniel. He is survived by his wife, Jane Switzer Daniel; and his five children, Linda Johnson (Dr. Phil Johnson), Karin Frye (Fred Neigebauer), Susan Schmeissing (Rev. Bill Schmeissing), Martha Demaree (Trip Demaree), and William K. Daniel II (Robin); 15 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Bill graduated from Columbus High School in 1948 and Indiana University in 1952 with a degree in business and where he enjoyed his membership in Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He owned and operated Daniel-Hayden Electric Company in Columbus for 23 years, followed by W. K. Daniel & Company, a local real estate firm. He and his wife, Ann, raised their family of 5 children in Columbus, where they enjoyed local sporting events (especially their son’s tennis and basketball games), IU basketball games, and boating on the Ohio River. They were active members of First United Methodist Church in Columbus and he was a member of the local Kiwanis club. In retirement they spent winters in Siesta Key, Florida where they enjoyed tennis, walks on the beach and sunsets. In 2009, he married Jane Switzer Walker and they enjoyed travel, life on Harrison Lake in Columbus and the beach on Siesta Key for nearly 11 years. He will be known and remembered for his love of family and friends, and his wonderful sense of humor.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Howard Boles and William Schmeissing officiating.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and 9:30 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the church.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
