COLUMBUS
Jeffrey A. Burton, 55, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:33 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Jeff was born August 2, 1964, in Columbus, the son of Hansel C. and Geraldine F. McKim Burton.
Mr. Burton was a member of First Christian and was employed at Rural King.
He was a 1984 graduate of Hauser High School and participated in the Special Olympics for 25 years.
A sports enthusiast, Jeff was a Hauser Jets fan where he enjoyed watching the boys basketball games. He enjoyed cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and watching Hoosier Pro Wrestling, but most of all spending time with family.
Survivors include his siblings, Teresa (Walter) Satterfield, Daniel (Anita) Burton and David (Shelli) Burton, all of Columbus; nieces, Jessica (Brian) Grismore, Cassie (Justin) Myers, Abby (Patrick) Glasser, Katie (Ben) Newton, Emily (Albert) Nolting, Megan (Greg) McCoy and Erika (Gabe) Miller; 18 great-nieces and great-nephews. Other family members include step-mother, Jean Hollon; step-sister, Jeannie Moon; and nieces and nephews, Lauren (Cole) Perry and Logan Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Patrick Glasser officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to time of service Thursday.
Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Special Olympics.
