A Greenwood man was arrested Monday morning on a preliminary charge of driving while intoxicated after he and his damaged vehicle were located in a Columbus liquor store parking lot.
At approximately 9:25 a.m., CPD officers responded to Cork Liquors, 650 Jonesville Road, in regards to a possible intoxicated driver on the property, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
When officers arrived, they observed Jefferson B. Turnbow, 48, asleep inside a vehicle in the parking lot. The officers also noted that Turnbow’s vehicle was damaged and one of the vehicle’s front tires was missing, Harris said.
Officers were able to wake Turnbow and later administered several field sobriety tests to him. At the conclusion of the tests, Turnbow was transported to the Columbus Police Department where he provided a breath sample of .230%, Harris said.
Turnbow was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded to their custody on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior offense.
