Joe Spiker of Spiker Promotions in Greencastle has announced that in 2020, he will be adding the Bloomington Speedway to his group of racetracks that he currently promotes.
Spiker succeeds the USAC Racing Group and A.J. Bowlen, who promoted the track in 2019. Spiker also promotes the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville and the Paragon Speedway.
Bloomington Speedway began racing in 1923, and last year, held seven events under the USAC promotership, but in 2020 Spiker has doubled the Friday Night action for the quarter-mile dirt oval with 15 races on the schedule.

Setser Racing opens season in Tulsa
Setser Racing of Columbus kick-started its 2020 campaign on Jan. 1 at the 35th Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout held at the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The action got underway with Outlaw Non-Wing and the Restricted ‘A’ Class taking center stage.
A field of 304 Outlaw Non-Wing entries filled the River Spirit Expo Center. The field was broken up into 34 heat races with the top 112 in passing points at the conclusion advancing to eight qualifying races Jan. 3. Jason Setser advanced from his fourth starting position to a solid second-place finish, which earned him the seventh starting spot in the qualifier.
In the Restricted ‘A’ Class, Gunnar Setser went into battle against a field of 110 entries. The Top 60 in passing points following 14 heat races would transfer to five qualifying races on Jan. 2. Gunnar blasted to a heat race win, earning him the second starting spot on the grid for the qualifier.
On Jan. 2, festivities kicked off with heat races for the Stock Non-Wing division. A stout field of entries was broken up into 37 eight-lap Heat Races. Jason advanced to a fifth-place finish after starting eighth in his respective heat, sending him to a C-Main on Friday.
The qualifying races for the Restricted ‘A’ class on Jan. 2 saw Gunnar drive to yet another win, locking him into the Jan. 4 25-lap Championship A-Main to battle for the coveted Golden Driller.
In the Junior Sprint division, Gunnar drew the pole position for his heat race and led flag-to-flag for a convincing victory, earning him a spot in one of eight qualifying races.
On Jan. 3, action began with a C-Main for the Stock Non-Wing division. Jason Setser raced from his third starting position to win, transferring him to a B-Main on Jan. 4.
A busy day Jan. 3 concluded with qualifying races for the Outlaw Non-Wing division. Rolling off seventh, Jason advanced two spot during the 10-lap affair to finish fifth.
The grueling 35th Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout drew to a close on Jan. 4. Jason Setser made the decision to retire from the remainder of the weekend to focus on Gunnar.
After starting ninth in the Junior Sprint A-Main, Gunnar ran as high as eighth in the 25-lapper before a tangle with another competitor on the final lap forced him to restart from the tail of the field. He went on to a 16th-place finish in the final rundown.
In the Restricted ‘A’ Class, after rolling off in eighth, Gunnar dropped four spots during the 25-lapper to place 12th.
The team wanted to thank its marketing partners for a successful Tulsa Shootout: Midwest Tube Mills, The Cure Starts Now, Integrated Racing Concepts, Impact Racing, Hoosier Tire, ATC — Fred McCarter, OneiX Designs and Corey Cain.
