Jarette Dee (Holcombe) Lykins passed away peacefully in her home on January 22, 2020. Born in Los Angeles, California on February 2, 1937, Jarette graduated from Brigham Young University in 1958.
She met her husband at BYU, left the big city, and moved to an Indiana farm in 1958. She made Indiana her home the rest of her life. Her family was her life’s work.
Jarette is survived by her husband of 61 years William Lykins, and her sister, Katherine (Holcombe) Cluff of Tucson, Arizona. Jarette’s legacy includes her children– Jill Nelson (Craig, deceased), Jamey (Terri), Janna Bullough (Byron), Tally (Lisa), Tracy (Laura), Talara, Korinda Stilson (Marc), Kaman (Jennifer), Kondie (Melody), and Dallin (Aimee). Her family also includes 60 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was a stalwart member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in numerous positions in the church. Whether working as an election poll inspector, volunteering as a swimming teacher, serving in the church, or caring for her children, Jarette touched the lives of countless people in her 82 years on earth.
An open house for Mrs. Lykins will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 3330 30th Street, Columbus, IN 47203. Any donations in her memory can be made to the Humanitarian Aid of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
