Vesta Ruth Daffron, 87, of Columbus, passed from this life at 3:02 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2020 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Faciality.

Mrs. Daffron was born August 11, 1932, in Camargo, Illinois, the daughter of Wilbur Alexander and Cecil Pearl Smuts Haines.

She married Lowell M. Daffron November 5, 1955.

Mrs. Daffron was a member of First United Methodist Church and Mary Martha Circle for several years. A lifelong member of United Methodist churches where she taught Sunday school at Newbern United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church and was a former member of Asbury Methodist Church.

She was a visitation member for 14 years from First United Methodist, Franklin Methodist Community and the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.

A graduate of Mt. Auburn High School. She attended Elkhart University, Ball State University and IUPUC.

She worked for many years at the Bartholomew County Hospital and Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie and was the Assistant Chief of Laboratory. She was the former Chief of Johnson County Hospital Laboratory.

Before retiring Mrs. Daffron was the dental office manager for her husband.

An outdoor enthusiast, Vesta enjoyed living on a farm, raising animals, chickens, gardening and bird watching.

She especially enjoyed children and reading.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years; daughter, Lavonne (Blake) Everroad of Columbus; son, Chad (Linda) Daffron of Greenwood; grandsons, Corey and Chase Daffron; sister, Alice Lou Pile of Marietta; brother, David F. Haines of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Charles R. Pile and Kenneth M. Daffron; and a sister-in-law Corinne Haines

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Boles officiating.

Private inurnment will be at a later date at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
