Peyton Ramsey, who led Indiana University to its best football season to its best season in more than a quarter-century, has decided to enter the transfer portal.
Ramsey, who had been the starter in 2018, took over for injured quarterback Michael Penix midway through the 2019 season and led the Hoosiers to a berth in the Gator Bowl. Following a one-point loss to Tennessee, Indiana finished 8-5, its first eight-win season since 1993.
Upon returning from a recruiting trip, coach Tom Allen met with Ramsey and Penix on Sunday. Ramsey had been named the starter for next season, but according to a source, what transpired during the meeting led Ramsey to opt to transfer.
Ramsey will be a graduate transfer and have one year of eligibility remaining.
