Carl Anthony Stone, 82 of Columbus passed from this life on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Carl Anthony Stone was the son of Angel and Theresa (Vita) Stone was born April 22, 1937 in Indianapolis.
Carl graduated from Southport High School where he played football and was on the 1955 State Champion Wrestling Team. He continued to Newport Beach, California on a wrestling scholarship returning to Indiana where he earned his B.S. degree at Indiana University Bloomington’s School of Business.
Carl worked as an industrial engineer for 20 years then ran his own business until his retirement in 1997. He holds 2 patents in industrial design. He served 6 years in the Indiana National Guard.
Carl enjoyed water sports, taking his family boating and skiing most weekends when his family was young.
Carl married Jan Burkus on May 11, 1963. Carl and Jan were blessed with three children, Trent Anthony (Melanie) Stone, Jamie Michelle (Jim) George, Brad Stephen (Chantel) Stone; and eight grandchildren, Ryan (Krstine) Stone of Austin, Texas, Leia, Anna, and Nathan Stone of Indianapolis, Aaron and Wyatt George of Spring Hill, KS and Bruce and Brady Stone of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be missed by his loving family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or St. Jude Children’s Hospital
Family and friends may call for visitation on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike and also from 10:00 a.m. till time of mass on Monday at the church.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McLary Road in Nashville Indiana with Father Eric Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
