As part of the Columbus Area Arts Council’s Youth Arts Initiative and in celebration of The Inn at Irwin Gardens 10-year anniversary as a bed and breakfast, the arts council is organizing a special youth art exhibit from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Inn, 608 Fifth St. in Columbus.

The 21-and-older “Loving History” event will benefit five local nonprofits and their youth programs: Bartholomew County Historical Society, the arts council, Friends of Bartholomew County Public Library, Friends of Columbus Indiana Architectural Archives and Lincoln-Central Family Neighborhood Center.

Youth artwork will be available for purchase during a silent auction from 5 to 7 p.m. First- and second-place awards will be selected prior to the event by guest juror Daniel Martinez, an assistant professor at Indiana University’s J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program in Columbus. And a People’s Choice Award will be determined by the public during the event.

In addition to the youth artwork, a silent auction is planned and you will have an opportunity to explore The Inn with self-guided tours throughout the event.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Bartholomew County Historical Society, the Columbus Area Visitors Center and Viewpoint Books.

Cost is $20 in advance, and $30 at the door. Admission includes a glass of champagne and light food. A cash bar is available.
