Columbus North’s indoor track and field seasons got off to a flying start at last week’s Bloomington Invitational, with four athletes winning events at Indiana University.

Sophomore Tucker Smith threw 60 feet, 3 1/1 inches to win the boys shot put. That was farther than the school record he set last season, but only outdoor performances are counted toward school records.

Also for the boys, Ben Malone won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.79 seconds, and Collin Pruitt (4:34.42) and Carson Littrell (4:46.77) went 1-2 in the 1,600. David Sandusky finished third in the shot (51-1 1/2).

Clayton Guthrie, Mendez, Austin Pulkowski and Andy Stohr took second in the 4×800 relay (8:41.49). Matt Newell, Littrell, Pruitt and Kilbarger-Stumpff were second in the distance medley relay (10:49.14).

Adrienne Salemme cleared 10-6 to win the girls pole vault. Emily Herndon finished second in the shot (38-3), Sydney Wheeler took third in the pole vault (8-6) and Emma Long tied for third in the high jump (4-10).
